Delicate Scent

62

By duffsmom

You reeked of perfume

When you walked in the door

I tried to discuss it

While you looked at the floor

Amid the rumors

And suspicious events

I’ve watched and wondered

But you put up a fence

I’ve asked, and pleaded

I’ve analyzed, and yet

You whisper, “I’m sorry”

But you’re not, I’ll bet

Now you’ve noted my clothing

My less hours at home

You’ve started to wonder

Just where your wife roams

You reeked of perfume

When you walked in the door

I’m days and weeks wiser

Finally saying, “No more”

Hand me that suitcase

I’ve set on the floor

Because you reeked of perfume

When you walked in the door

There really is no proper category to describe this poem. The closest I came up with is sadly beautiful.

Amazing poem, and sadly true in many cases, but I love the way that the woman gets her own back, voted up all the way!

This reeked of the perfume of ENOUGH. Your poetry tugs at the sense of justice and action to rise out of foolishness. This poem show the vision of the woman seeking resolution after being disrespected. She escapes in this one. I am seeing the same character for each poem that I read instead of a new character for each poem, am I close?

I voted this up because is was entertaining and beautifully written. Your lay out makes it easy to appreciate awesomeness of how you drove the point home. I almost shouted at the end! You are good!

Good poem about a sad subject of infidelity. I thought this was going to be about flowers or even laundry dryer sheets or candles prior to reading it. You fooled me with that "delicate" title. Ha!
